A Titanic Evening!

Cinematic Titanic in Somerville
Getting ready to riff.

Last night the family and I had the pleasure of, once again, seeing the gang from Cinematic Titanic do what they do best — make fun of bad movies. Joel, Frank, Mary Jo, Josh and Trace (you know, the folks responsible for “Mystery Science Theater 3000”)  plus Dave “Gruber” Allen   were in Boston (Somerville, to be precise) for a two-night engagement at the Somerville Theater.

On the first evening they had riffed on “Blood of the Vampire,” which we saw CT tear apart in Minneapolis back in October, 2008. We were lucky enough to be there on the second evening for the performance of “Dynamite Brothers,” a 1974 “kung-sploitation” train wreck.

The evening began with Gruber doing a hilarious bit as an audience warm-up man. He was eventually joined by Josh, then Frank, for music, poetry, TV show pitches and haiku. Really. Haiku. It was great stuff.

Then the entire gang came out, their humor all sharp and pointy-like, to dig into “Dynamite Brothers.” The film was perfect fodder for riffing. It had long, plot-padding sequences, broad stereotypes, and bad acting. What more could you ask for? The audience ate it up. Bonnie said she thought it was one of the best MST3K/CT movies ever. I have to agree. We were even treated to a “greatest hits” reel!

After the show, I got a chance to talk with the gang for an all-to-brief period of time. Then it was time to say so long   until next time.

While I encourage you to pick up the CT DVDs, if you get the chance to see “Cinematic Titanic” live, you really should go. They are currently on a quick tour around the country. Below is a link to their schedule. Oh, and one more thing: if you get into the autograph line after the show, please be sure to tell everyone that Clinton says “Hello!”

First ever comedy4cast meet a success!

First ever comedy4cast live meet
Do you recognize these people?

As part of MouseFest 2008, comedy4cast hosted a trip to the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. Exclusive event pins were handed out, as were “Groucho Glasses” that we wore throughout the show. Our unique fashion sense caught the attention of cast members, park guests and the monsters themselves! Everyone had a great time. Big thanks to all who attended.

For the 2007 Podcast Expo, I created a shirt that features over 160 podcast logos. The images were all hand drawn. Click on the images below to see large images of both the front and the back of the shirt. For those of you attending Podcamp Boston, I will be wearing the shirt there as well.

comedy4cast Wins 2 Podcast Peer Awards!

I couldn’t be more pleased! In the just-concluded Podcast Peer Awards voting, comedy4cast has won both “Best Comedy Podcast” and “Best Short Podcast” honors. comedy4cast won “Best Comedy Podcast” in last year’s voting as well. These awards are voted on exclusively by fellow podcasters, making this a very high honor. I’d like to take a moment to say “Thank you” to all those involved in the awards, especially awards organizer Dave Hitt.

I’d also like to thank everyone who nominated, then voted for comedy4cast in the recently concluded Podcast Awards. No, comedy4cast did not win, but it was an honor to be included in the list of finalists. I appreciate each and every vote. comedy4cast listeners ROCK!
