comedy4cast always take this opportunity to provide you with some interesting, yet totally useless Odd News. In fact, TWO Odd News stories that we thing deserve each other. So, let's have some fun with "Odd News Times Twos"!

For our first Odd New story, we're headed to London!

SFX: ELECTRONIC WHOOSH.

SFX: CITY TRAFFIC.

CLINTON (cont'd)

It's Saturday night in the heart of the city, and I've scored us entry into a sold-out event. I hear it's one of the hottest scenes in town. Although I probably should have checked to see if that was just an expression or if this place is really in need of air conditioning. Oh, well. No time to worry about that. Let's go in.

SFX: DOOR OPENS.

SFX: CROWD OF PEOPLE TALKING.

CLINTON (cont'd)

This place is packed! All right. I'm guessing this bunch of young people is ready for a good time. But, where's the music? Maybe they're waiting for a DJ. And it's odd, but half the people here don't even have a pint in their hand. This is all a bit strange.

Oh, here comes someone up on a stage. Ah, maybe it's a comedy club. This may be where they crown the King of Cheeses.

Although, I'm not getting a major comedy vibe out of whoever this is. Huh. They're setting up a screen. Is this a wake for Clippy? Or worse, a timeshare pitch?

We'll find out soon enough. But, right now it's time to check out our second story by going to...uh, actually, we're staying right here. In this London pub.

Because it's an example of a dilemma many nightspots are facing. Young people are drinking less.

Oh, THAT'S not a bad thing. But if you've built your entire business model around selling a certain amount of alcohol, this change can be a sobering challenge.

For example, one local club, Corsica Studios, that's been right in the heart of London's clubbing scene for over 20 years, closed at the end of March. The place was still busy, but while they used to take in between 10 and 12,000 pounds a night from alcohol sales, that had fallen to between 6 and 7,000 a night.

Young people are still going out, but they're looking for different experiences, like rooftop parties, pop-up concerts, and EDM festivals.

And we can't forget the social media aspect. Would you rather see someone's Insta feed full snaps of the same old bar everyone else goes to or
pics of a neon-filled secret-location concert?

Which brings us back to our first story. Because the host set up a laptop and a screen for PowerPoint presentations. The twist is the presenter isn't pitching a vacation home in Miami, they're pitching their friend as dating material.

Each presenter takes a turn trying to point out their friends best qualities and poking a bit at their flaws. All in a fun way, of course.

Who said learning how to build amazing slide decks was a waste of time?

With the use of dating apps on the decline, this is one way to meet people and put a new spin on that classic "Have I got a friend for you!" pitch.

Of course, if the presenter is really nervous about standing up in front of a crowd, there's probably some pub out there setting up a Toastmasters super exclusive open-air festival to help with that.

So, what did we learn today? I think it's that you should always be really good to your friends. You never know when you might be in their next Keynote presentation.
