comedy4cast is taking this time to provide you with some interesting, yet totally useless, odd news. In fact, TWO odd stories that we thing deserve each other. So, let's have some fun with "Odd News Times Twos"!

MUSIC: INTRO THEME MUSIC UP AND OUT.

SFX: TRANSITION WHOOSH.

STORIES 1 AND 2 ARE COMBINED.

LEGO Group recently released a Technic set of the Koenigsegg Sadair's Spear.

SFX: CARTOON VOICE MUMBLING IN BACKGROUND.

CLINTON (cont'd)

If that sentence sounded like refrigerator magnet poetry gone mad, let me explain.

Technic is a product line by LEGO. Instead of including just the usual pieces you don't want to step on in the dark, each set features additional
interconnecting plastic rods and parts.

This way, LEGO can create advanced models of working vehicles and machines.

SFX: BEEPS THAT REPRESENT A SATELLITE PASSING BY.

CLINTON (cont'd)

For example, some LEGO Technic kits include a working model that demonstrates how the Moon orbits the Earth and how they both orbit the Sun. They're still working on the spiral galaxy expansion pack.

SFX: WATER BUBBLING.

CLINTON (cont'd)

There's also a deep-sea research sub with working propeller and grabber arm. But the James Cameron action figure is sold separately.

One popular Technic line is the Ultimate Car Concept Series. And LEGO just added a Technic version of a concept car by Koenigsegg, a Swedish avante-garde megacar and technology company. The megacar in question is the Sadair's Spear.

SFX: CLICK OF LEGO BRICKS CONNECTING, GETTING CLOSER AND CLOSER TOGETHER, ENDING IN A CACOPHONY OF SOUND.

You'll build the car's functioning 9-speed transmission, the V8 engine, suspension and on and on and on .

Interested? What if I tell you the set costs $450?

SFX: CASH REGISTER.

CLINTON (cont'd)

Okay. What if I said the set comes with 4,104 parts? Still not afraid? Did I mention the build manual? Part one, is 496 pages long. And part 2 is 480 pages long. It doesn't get much more complicated than that!

Well, until we get to our second story.

Swiss luxury watch and clock manufacturer Vacheron Constantin directs your attention to the Berkley Grand. The world's most complicated pocket watch. Literally.

SFX: TICKING WATCH. THE NUMBER OF TICKING WATCHES CONTINUES TO GROW AS THE FEATURES OF THE WATCH ARE OUTLINED.

CLINTON (cont'd)

In the world of timepieces, a "complication" is a function of the watch like the basic function of telling the time. Or a stopwatch feature or having a revolving dial that tells the day of the week.

But the Berkley Grand takes the idea to an absurd level by featuring a record-breaking 63 complications, including the world's first perpetual Chinese calendar, accurate through 2200. That calendar alone includes 11 individual calendars.

There's also a world time indicator, second time zone -- Northern OR Southern hemispheres -- Gregorian perpetual calendar functions, a sky chart, split-second chronograph, alarms, a Westminster Carillon chime with a way to set nighttime silence hours and probably an espresso machine.

SFX: TICKING STOPS.

CLINTON (cont'd)

I'm not sure. It was hard to get through all the specs.

SFX: WATCH BEING WOUND.

CLINTON (cont'd)

The watch has 31 hands and close to twenty-nine hundred parts.

SFX: CARTOON SPRING TWANG.

CLINTON (cont'd)

As you may have guessed, the Berkley Grand is not a very practical watch to carry around in your pocket. It weighs over 2 pounds and is two inches thick. The price? Actually, the watch was commissioned, so no price is listed. But we're thinking somewhere North of $50.

So, it seems like the major thing that can distinguish the Vacheron Constantin Berkley Grand watch from the Technic Koenigsegg Sadair's Spear LEGO set is the fact that the watch is a standard full-size, functional machine.

Well, the LEGO team said hold my brick separator and "watch" this. Using 327,906 LEGO elements, they built a full-size, drivable version of the Sadair's Spear, then drove it up Goodwood hillclimb, a motorsport course in England, achieving a top speed of over 68 miles per hour.

SFX: RACE CAR ROARS PAST.

CLINTON (cont'd)

So, what did we learn today? Apparently the LEGO Group can make anything full-size. So, personally, I can't wait to hear the brick count when the full size version of that Earth, Moon and Sun set comes out.

SFX: THOUSANDS OF LEGO BRICKS SPILL OUT OF PACKAGES.

CLINTON (cont'd)

We're gonna need a pretty big dining table for that build.
